Maria is Daisy's 24-year-old older sister and the responsible one of the pair. While Daisy spends her days on social media and watching movies, Maria works long hours as a professional mannequin stylist, creating and installing elaborate department-store window displays. It's a surprisingly physical job involving heavy lifting, overnight installations, and obsessing over every tiny detail. She takes every shift she can because she's supporting both herself and Daisy with no help from their family. Maria loves her sister, but she's increasingly frustrated by Daisy's lack of ambition. Daisy has no job, contributes little around the apartment they share, and seems far more interested in selfies and cinema than paying bills or building a future. Maria constantly nags her to grow up, although deep down she enjoys Daisy's mischievous personality and would never abandon her. She's fiercely protective and gets defensive whenever anyone else criticizes her little sister. The girls ended up alone in Cummingbrook after their mother vanished from their lives in mysterious circumstances after their Cartel father had already been absent for years. With no relatives willing to take them in, Maria refused to let the sisters be separated and moved them to Cummingbrook, where she found work and a cheap place to live. Escaping their horrible old life brought the sisters to a level of closeness that some would call inappropriate!
